Thهس passage states that since our understanding of the emergence of human beings in their current form is accurate, God has allowed us to know Him through the observation of His signs, particularly in the teachings known as the ÎÁdith. Through these teachings, God has shown us His signs and provided evidence about Himself. The description of God that we have is essentially a reflection of ourselves, except for His unique and essential qualities that belong to Him alone. We come to know God by knowing ourselves and from our own experiences, and therefore, we attribute to Him the same qualities that we attribute to ourselves.
This understanding is supported by divine messages that are conveyed to us through the prophets. In these messages, God describes Himself to us through our own context and experiences. When we witness God, we are essentially witnessing ourselves, and when God witnesses us, He is witnessing Himself. Although we are diverse as individuals and species, we recognize that there is a distinction that sets us apart from one another. If this distinction did not exist, multiplicity would not exist within a single entity.
Similarly, even though God describes us through His self-description, there is still a difference between us, which is our dependency on Him for our existence. We are contingent beings, whereas God does not rely on what we require. Therefore, it is appropriate to attribute eternity and pre-existence to God, while denying the concept of antecedence, which implies the beginning of existence from nonexistence. Although God is the First, the notion of antecedence is not applied to Him. Consequently, it is also said that God is the Last. If His antecedence were in the realm of limited existence, it would be impossible for Him to be the last existing entity, as there is no last possible thing, considering the infinite nature of possibilities. He is referred to as the Last because everything ultimately returns to Him after being attributed to us. Thus, fundamentally, God is both the Last and the First.
